Poncho can be made with or without cowl.
Churchmouse writes: As a friend from Peru wryly observed, “Where I come from, we’ve worn ponchos for three thousand years!” It’s easy to knit (just one long stockinette rectangle), easy to finish, and easy to throw on. We think it’s like a really elegant sweatshirt.
Materials for Poncho with Cowl: 9 skeins Blue Sky Alpacas Melange (110 yds/100m each); Or approx. 980 yds/896m of an equivalent dk-weight yarn.
Materials for Poncho without cowl: 5 skeins Rowan Felted Tweed (191 yds/175m each); Or approx. 840 yds/768m of an equivalent dk-weight yarn.
PLEASE NOTE: Although this pattern has been made with Rowan Felted Tweed and with Blue Sky Alpacas, we believe it can also be made with Celestina and other DK weight yarns (see DK weight yardage requirements as noted above). Please swatch before starting your project.
