Bluefaced Leicester sheep hails from Leicestershire in the English Midlands and is so named because the sheep's face appears to have a blue tint due to the dark skin underneath the short white hair.  Spun from 100%  Bluefaced Leicester wool, and put up with a "shetland twist," it is a superior hand-knitting-crocheting yarn because of its soft and lustrous qualities. The resulting yarn yields hard-wearing garments, like sweaters and other outerwear.  However, the wool is not just strong, it is soft.  And, because the wool of the Bluefaced Leicester is curled–rather than crimped–the resulting fiber has excellent drape. 
 
Juniper Moon Farm BFL comes in 100 gram skeins with 200 yards of yarn and works up at a worsted to light worsted weight.  This is a beautiful yarn to use for long-wearing garments and accessories of all kinds and a favorite at our store.  Grab some of this lovely yarn line for a hat, cowl, wrap, or sweater, you are going to love working with it.

Knitting Gauge: Approximately 4.5-5 stitches to an inch on U.S. size 6-7 needles (4-4.5mm).

Crochet Gauge: Approximately 2.75-3.5 sc to an inch on hook size G6-7.

Weight: Light Worsted to Worsted.

Care: Machine wash cool. Dry flat. We recommend hand washing.
