Bluefaced Leicester sheep originate from Leicestershire in the English Midlands and are named for the bluish tint on their faces, caused by dark skin beneath short white hair. Spun from 100% Bluefaced Leicester wool and finished with a traditional “Shetland twist,” this yarn is prized by knitters and crocheters for its softness, luster, and strength. It produces hard-wearing garments like sweaters and outerwear, but don’t be fooled—this wool is as soft as it is strong. Thanks to its naturally curled (not crimped) fiber, it also boasts exceptional drape.
Juniper Moon Farm BFL comes in 100-gram skeins with 200 yards of yarn and works up at a worsted to light worsted weight. This beautiful yarn is ideal for durable, long-lasting garments and accessories of all kinds—and it’s a favorite in our shop. Whether you’re making a hat, cowl, wrap, or sweater, you’ll love every stitch with this timeless fiber.
